Maharashtra Scraps Housing Clause for Mill Workers

Maharashtra Scraps Housing Clause for Mill Workers

The Maharashtra government has decided to remove a rule that was causing a lot of trouble for mill workers.

This rule said that if a worker or their family had turned down a house before, they couldn't apply again.

Many people were upset about this, so the government changed it.

Now, more than 1.74 lakh workers or their families can apply for a house.

The government helps pay for these houses, which are 300 square feet and cost ₹15 lakh.

The government has already given houses to 15,870 people and plans to build more.

Most workers live in areas like Byculla and Parel, and this change might help the ruling party in the upcoming elections.
