Artists Debunk Gangeswari Temple Replica Theory
A group of artists in Odisha had a two-day event where they showed their paintings and talked about art.
They also visited an old temple called Gangeswari Temple.
After looking at the temple, they all agreed that it is much older than the famous Sun Temple in Konark.
Some people thought the Gangeswari Temple was a small copy of the Sun Temple, but the artists said that's not true.
They think the Gangeswari Temple is even older than another famous temple, the Lingaraj Temple.
The artists and some experts talked about how important traditional art is in Odisha.
Twenty senior artists from Odisha participated in a two-day painting exhibition and discussion session.
The event was organized by Shakuntala Art Gallery and Sanskar Bharati, Utkal East Region, Visual Arts Department.
Artists visited the Gangeswari Temple and concluded it is more ancient than the Sun Temple of Konark.
The temple's 'shikhara' is built in Rekha style, but its decorations suggest it is older than the Lingaraj Temple.
Artists debunked the claim that the Gangeswari Temple is a miniature replica of the Konark Sun Temple.
