AMC Entertainment Shares Surge on Strong Q2 Results
AMC Entertainment, the biggest movie theater company in the world, just had a really good quarter.
They made a lot of money, almost $1.6 billion, which is the most they've ever made in a single quarter.
Their profits also went up a lot, and they have a lot of cash on hand.
This is great news because they've had a tough time in the past, especially during the COVID pandemic and the recent strikes by writers and actors.
They've also been working hard to pay off some of their debts.
One of the big reasons for their success is the new Christopher Nolan movie, The Odyssey, which did really well at the box office.
Because of all this good news, their stock price went up a lot.
AMC Entertainment reported its highest quarterly revenue in 106 years, with revenue rising 14% to nearly $1.6 billion.
Adjusted EBITDA surged 70% to a record $321 million, and net cash from operations rose to $235 million.
The company generated $190 million in free cash flow and ended the quarter with $778 million in cash and cash equivalents.
AMC refinanced $400 million of debt, raised $285 million through equity offerings, and reduced debt by $1.7 billion since 2020.
The Odyssey opened to $264 million globally, with 4.3 million people attending AMC and Odeon theaters over the weekend.
