After Battling Iran For Months, US Soldiers' 'Mani-Pedi' In Thailand · NDTV

Thousands of US sailors arrived in Pattaya, Thailand, after being at sea for 286 days.

They are taking a short break from their long deployment.

Many are choosing ordinary activities such as visiting nail salons, buying socks, shopping for gifts, and eating familiar food.

Their long time at sea followed military operations in the Middle East and the war between the United States and Iran.

Reports said life on the ship had become difficult and that some sailors experienced serious mental-health problems.

The ship’s captain agreed that fresh fruits and vegetables had been limited but said some reports overstated the problems.

Pattaya businesses are trying to attract the sailors with discounts and quick services.

City officials hope the visit will bring in about 100 million Thai baht, although some small sellers reported few sales.
