Lamichhane replaces Paudel as Nepal ODI captain for Premier Cup
Cricket is a sport played between two teams of players.
Nepal has a national cricket team, and one player is chosen as the captain to lead it.
The captain is like the team's leader on the field.
Sandeep Lamichhane has been chosen to be the new captain of Nepal's one-day team, which plays matches that last about a day.
He is taking over from Rohit Paudel, who was the captain before him.
Lamichhane is a leg-spinner, meaning he bowls the ball so it spins in a tricky way for batters.
He has taken many wickets for Nepal, which means he has gotten many opposing batters out.
The team will play in a tournament called the ACC Men's Premier Cup, held in Malaysia.
Lamichhane has lots of experience, and Nepal hopes he will help the team play well.
Some players were left off the team and some new players were added for this tournament.
Sandeep Lamichhane was named Nepal's new ODI captain by the Cricket Association of Nepal, replacing long-serving skipper Rohit Paudel.
The squad announcement came ahead of the ACC Men's Premier Cup, to be played in Malaysia from August 30 to September 12.
Lamichhane, 26, previously captained Nepal in 14 ODIs and has taken 154 wickets in 77 ODIs.
Under Paudel, Nepal won 11 of their final 12 ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 matches, earning a direct berth at the 2023 ODI World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe.
Kushal Bhurtel, Bhim Sharki, Nandan Yadav and Binod Bhandari were dropped, while Sompal Kami, Aarif Sheikh, Dev Khanal, Sher Malla, Sundeep Jora and Basir Ahamad were included.
