Review Finds The Vvaan Struggles to Make Mythology Compelling
The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest is a Hindi movie about a magical forest.
The forest is linked to a goddess named Van Devi.
Rishi, played by Sidharth Malhotra, does not believe the forest is special.
He thinks it is only blocking development.
He enters the forest after sunset, even though people say it is forbidden.
Strange and frightening events then happen around him.
The review says the movie’s goddess and story are not developed strongly enough.
It also says comedy, a song, and familiar horror ideas make the film less powerful.
The Hindi film draws on the Bihar legend of Van Devi, a folk goddess associated with a sacred forest grove.
Sidharth Malhotra plays Rishi, a sceptic who enters the forest after sunset to challenge its religious significance.
Rishi argues that the forest obstructs development, while his wife’s past experience has strengthened his disbelief.
The review says the 136-minute film weakens its mythology with slapstick comedy, an item song, and familiar horror elements.
It concludes that the film does not fully explore the forest spirit’s potential as a guardian of fragile ecology.
