Third KIIT Student Dies by Suicide in 2024
A student named Rahul Yadav, who was studying computer science at a university in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, was found dead in his hostel room.
He was from Chhattisgarh and was in his first year.
The police think he might have taken his own life, but they are still investigating to find out what happened.
This is the third time in less than nine months that a student has died by suicide at this university.
Earlier, in February and May, two other students, both from Nepal, also died by suicide in their hostel rooms.
The university and the government are looking into these incidents, but the results of their investigations have not been made public yet.
Rahul Yadav, a first-year BTech Computer Science student from Chhattisgarh, was found hanging in his hostel room at KIIT university in Bhubaneswar.
The incident occurred on Sunday night, and the police are investigating the case from all angles.
This is the third student suicide at KIIT in 2024, following two previous incidents involving Nepalese students in February and May.
BJP MLA Saroj Padhi expressed concern over the frequent student suicides and demanded stringent action against those responsible.
The police have collected evidence and are questioning fellow students to gather more information about the incident.
