NASA Finds Broad, Shallow Pits During Curiosity’s Mars Traverse

NASA’s Curiosity rover found unusual holes on Mars.

They were wide but not very deep.

They looked different from the craters made by falling space rocks.

Scientists did not see obvious objects inside the holes.

Curiosity used special cameras to photograph them closely.

The pictures were combined to make 3D models.

Scientists are studying the holes and nearby rocks to understand how this part of Mars formed.

The discovery shows that Mars can still surprise researchers.
