Madras High Court Upholds Warden’s Dismissal Over Ganja Supply

The Madras High Court considered a case involving a prison warden.

The warden was accused of giving ganja to prisoners.

He was also accused of drinking alcohol at the home of a convict.

During a surprise inspection, officials found 10 grams of ganja with a prisoner.

The warden had challenged his dismissal from service.

Justice B Pugalendhi rejected that challenge.

The court said prison officers must prevent illegal items from entering prisons.

It decided that dismissal was a suitable punishment for the misconduct.
