Delhi Cracks Down on Illegal Liquor Trade, Arresting 730

Delhi authorities are trying to stop people from selling or moving liquor illegally.

The Delhi Excise Department registered 725 police cases between April and August this year.

It arrested 730 people.

Officials also seized 197 vehicles that were allegedly used to transport illegal liquor.

They recovered about 2.2 lakh bottles.

Last year during the same period, there were fewer cases, arrests, seized vehicles and recovered bottles.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the government has a zero-tolerance policy toward illegal liquor trading.

The government is also working on a new excise policy.
