Japan To House Athletes on Cruise Ship for 2026 Asian Games
Imagine a big sports party called the Asian Games happening in Japan!
Instead of building a whole new village for the athletes, they're going to live on a fancy cruise ship docked at the port and in houses made from shipping containers.
This will save money.
About 4,600 athletes will stay on the ship, with the others in containers nearby.
The organizers hope this will encourage athletes to interact with each other despite the different living locations.
They're also adding cool new sports like mixed martial arts and eSports to attract more fans and make the games fun for everyone.
Athletes at the 2026 Asian Games will stay on a cruise ship and shipping containers.
The cruise ship will house 4,600 athletes and officials.
Another 2,400 will stay in converted shipping containers.
Organizers aim to reduce costs by avoiding a traditional athlete's village.
