Maharashtra to Examine Police Quarters Ownership Demand
The Maharashtra government has decided to look into a request from Mumbai police officers who want to own their housing quarters.
A special team has been created to study if this is possible.
The team will check the rules, money, and technical aspects before making a decision.
There are about 52,000 police officers in Mumbai, but only 19,000 have quarters.
The government is being careful because a court has said that government employees usually can't own their quarters.
Similar requests from other government employees have been turned down before.
