Israel Says Turkish Syria Expansion Crossed Red Line

Israel Says Turkish Syria Expansion Crossed Red Line

Israel says Turkey was planning to put many more troops and equipment in Syria.

Israel says this broke an agreement to keep military positions from changing.

Because of that, Israel attacked an airbase near Aleppo called Abu al-Duhur.

Syrian officials said the airfield was hit at least eight times, and satellite images showed runway damage.

Turkey and Syria criticized the attack.

Israel says Syria itself does not want to fight Israel.

Israel also says Turkey may have pushed Syria into the situation.

Turkey denied that a delegation had recently visited Syria, while Syria’s foreign minister acknowledged one had.

Israel says it is still willing to talk with both countries.
