Maharashtra approves forest land diversion for two Adani Group projects

Forests are special places where trees, plants and animals live, and governments make rules to protect them.

This story is about a big company called Adani, which wanted to use some forest land to build things.

The government of a state in India called Maharashtra said okay to that.

The government gave permission for almost 83,700 square feet of forest land to be used for two company projects.

One project is a big place to store and move cement in Alibag.

The company needs land to build a boat docking place, a path to carry cement, and a road to reach it.

Some of that land is mangrove forest, which is a special kind of forest that grows near water.

The permission was given through official papers called Government Resolutions on a Monday.

Because forests are protected, the company needs special permission before it can use the land.
