NDMC Honours Sanitation Workers and Artists for Civic Initiatives
The New Delhi Municipal Council honoured workers and artists for improving public spaces.
Seven sanitation workers helped turn wet and green waste into compost.
Compost is a useful material that can help plants grow.
The council said it made about 13,000 kilograms of compost in one year.
It wants to process more waste close to where it is collected.
This could reduce the amount of waste sent away and cut some transportation emissions.
Fifteen artists also painted murals around Connaught Place.
Their paintings showed Indian heritage, culture and the idea of Viksit Bharat @2047.
NDMC felicitated seven sanitation workers for converting wet waste into organic compost.
The council produced around 13,000 kilograms of compost over the past year at a decentralised facility in Chanakyapuri.
The initiative is intended to reduce waste disposal and transportation-related emissions through local processing.
NDMC also honoured 15 artists who created murals at five locations in and around Connaught Place.
The murals covered about 4,200 square feet and featured themes of heritage, culture and Viksit Bharat @2047.
