India Rolls Out Digital IDs for 70+ Million Farmers
Imagine the government wants to help farmers by giving them a special ID card, like a digital profile.
These cards keep track of important things like their land and the crops they grow.
Right now, millions of farmers already have one!
The goal is to give these cards to even more farmers so they can get help easier.
This helps them get money and other support from the government, like crop insurance, making their farming easier.
Over 70 million farmer IDs, linked to land records, have been generated under the Digital Agriculture Mission.
The Agriculture Ministry aims to provide 9 million more IDs by the end of the current fiscal year.
By the end of FY27, a total of 110 million farmer IDs are planned across the country.
The IDs capture farmer demographics, landholdings, and cropping patterns for targeted schemes.
These digital IDs are used for various services, including direct cash transfers and crop insurance.
