Meta Positions Muse as User-Controlled Personal AI Assistant
Meta is building an AI assistant called Muse.
Muse is meant to remember a user’s goals and help with tasks over time.
It can already use a Mac computer and may become the main assistant on Meta’s smart glasses.
Meta says people should always be able to control what Muse does.
At first, Muse asks for permission often before taking important actions.
Users can later allow it to do some tasks automatically if they are comfortable.
Muse Spark 1.3 is the AI model that powers the assistant.
The model is designed to help with personal projects, productivity, finance, and health and fitness.
Muse is currently available only in the United States and Canada.
Meta executive Vishal Shah said Muse should give users control over how much autonomy it has.
Muse can operate a computer through its Mac app and is planned to become Meta’s default AI agent for smart glasses.
Muse initially uses conservative permissions, requiring approval for actions such as purchases, messages, and Gmail writing access.
The Muse Spark 1.3 model is designed for long-running personal tasks and coordinating multiple subagents.
Muse is currently available only in the United States and Canada, with expansion dependent on language and local app support.
