US Nuclear Weapons Testing: History and Implications

US Nuclear Weapons Testing: History and Implications

The United States has a lot of powerful atomic bombs, but it stopped doing big, explosive tests in 1992.

The last big test happened in a desert place called the Nevada Test Site.

Now, scientists use giant computers and super-powerful machines to make sure the bombs still work, without making a loud explosion.

This is like how car mechanics keep old cars running without crashing them.

America is also planning to build new versions of its bombs.

Some people think testing bombs might be a good way to show strength to other countries, like they did during the Cold War.

However, other experts and leaders say the country doesn't need to test bombs anymore to keep them working and safe.

Testing can also be difficult because the old equipment at the test site might not work anymore.
