Farmers Protest Freeze on Rs 17.59 Crore Flood Compensation

Farmers Protest Freeze on Rs 17.59 Crore Flood Compensation

Floods damaged cotton and soya crops in several villages near the Penganga River.

The government set aside Rs 17.59 crore to help affected farmers.

Farmers were told they could receive Rs 10,000 for each damaged acre.

The promised money was meant to cover damage across about 20,000 acres.

Farmers say the money has been frozen and has not reached their bank accounts.

They have been visiting government offices and protesting for more than a year.

They also want officials to check the damage from this season’s floods again.

BJP leaders have helped them meet ministers and district officials.
