Assets Typically Not Covered by Standard Fire Insurance Policies

Imagine your fire insurance is like a superhero cape that protects your house or shop from fire.

This cape is great for things like the building itself, furniture, and the stuff you sell.

But, this superhero cape doesn't cover everything.

It usually won't protect really shiny things like gold or jewelry because they are worth a lot and can be easily stolen.

It also doesn't cover old, special paintings or collections because they are super unique and hard to price.

Your money, special papers, or even computer information are usually not covered.

Things that are super dangerous, like stored chemicals, are also not covered because they are too risky.

If your building is still being built, or if you have a car or boat, those usually need their own special insurance.

Also, if the fire causes you to lose money because your business has to close for a while, that lost money isn't covered by the basic fire cape.

It's important to know what's not covered so you can get extra protection if you need it!
