Banka Village Residents Get Running Water After 77 Years
Imagine a village where, for almost 80 years, people had to walk to a river and dig for water every day.
That was the life in Gauripur village, until now!
The government stepped in and, in just two weeks, gave everyone in the village clean water that comes right out of a tap in their homes.
They also installed some extra pumps, just in case the electricity goes out.
This is all part of a bigger plan to bring clean water to homes across Bihar.
Now, instead of the daily struggle, villagers have easy access to the water they need.
If there are any problems with the water supply, people can easily report them.
Gauripur village in Banka district, Bihar, now has access to piped water after nearly eight decades.
The Public Health and Engineering Department (PHED) installed piped water in 15 days, connecting all 210 households.
The village was previously overlooked, and residents collected water from a nearby river.
The 'Har Ghar Nal Ka Jal' scheme aims to provide piped water to rural households.
Hand pumps serve as a backup water source during electricity outages.
