Hyderabad Police Set 16‑Foot Height Limit for Ganesh Idols
The police in Hyderabad decided that the big statues of the god Ganesh used in the festival must not be taller than 16 feet.
They made this rule because last year, 23,000 statues were set up and four people were hurt while moving them.
The police told the people who make the statues to use safe materials, keep the workshops clean, and use clay instead of heavy materials.
They also set special roads for moving the statues and asked the makers to tell the police when and where the statues will travel.
If anyone breaks these rules, the police will take legal action.
City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar imposed a 16‑foot maximum height for Ganesh festival idols in Hyderabad.
The directive follows four transit accidents last year involving 23,000 idols.
Safety measures include fire‑safety, proper wiring, clean premises, and use of clay idols.
Dedicated entry/exit routes and advance transit schedules are required for idol transport.
Violations will trigger strict legal action and coordination with traffic police.
