Travel Club Ordered to Refund Fee for Unfulfilled Trip
Imagine a couple wanted to go on a trip to religious sites in Maharashtra with a travel club they paid to use.
The travel club couldn't arrange the trip they asked for.
The couple asked for their money back, but the club didn't respond.
Because the club didn't provide the trip, a special court ordered the club to return the couple's membership fee.
The court also made the travel club pay a small fine for not helping the couple.
The club has to pay the money back with some extra interest, too.
A travel club was ordered to refund Rs 1.6 lakh to a customer for failing to provide services.
The couple paid a membership fee and requested a holiday package to pilgrimage sites in Maharashtra.
The travel club informed the customers they do not have resorts in Mumbai and could not arrange the requested tour.
The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (DCDRC) imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on the travel agency.
The DCDRC found the club guilty of denying services and ordered a refund with 6% interest.
