80,000 Shrimp Bags Recalled in 17 States Over Radioactivity Concerns

A company called Direct Source Seafood LLC is recalling over 80,000 bags of frozen shrimp from Indonesia because they might be contaminated with a radioactive substance called cesium-137.

This recall affects two brands, Market 32 and Waterfront Bistro, and is happening in 17 states across the US.

The FDA announced this recall on December 19, just before Christmas.

The company thinks the shrimp might have been prepared or stored in unsanitary conditions.

Eating these shrimp over a long time could increase the risk of cancer, but no one has gotten sick from them yet.

If you have these shrimp, you should throw them away or return them to the store for a refund.
