CBSE Extends Math Flexibility for Class 10 Students
Imagine you're in 10th grade and choose an easier math class.
The good news is that the CBSE board, which runs schools, is letting you still take the harder math in 11th grade.
They started this because of problems like the pandemic.
Usually, students who pick the easy math couldn't take advanced math later.
The board wants school leaders to make sure you can handle the tougher math if you switch.
This change has been around for a while, and it's been extended until further notice.
However, a new plan based on recommendations from the National Curriculum Framework will start in 2025-26, which will then change the policy.
This means the board is allowing the flexibility for a while longer, but it won't last forever.
CBSE allows Class 10 Maths (Basic) students to pursue regular Maths in Class 11.
This policy relaxation continues due to 'pandemic and other issues'.
The Maths (Basic) option was introduced in 2020 for students not pursuing higher maths.
Controller of Examination requests principals to assess student aptitude.
The policy will cease upon implementation of a new scheme based on NCF-SE recommendations, starting in 2025-26.
