Birik Dara landslide zone to get permanent fix
A place called Birik Dara on a big road called NH-10 has been having landslides for a long time.
The government is working hard to fix it permanently before the next rainy season.
They are also planning to build a new bridge near an old one called the Coronation Bridge to help more people travel easily.
This is important because the road and bridge connect many places like Kalimpong, Darjeeling, and Sikkim.
A man named Raju Bista, who is like a leader for the area, has been working on this for a few years.
They have money to build the new bridge, and the work will start soon.
Birik Dara on NH-10 is prone to repeated landslides and is being repaired for permanent fix.
NHIDCL aims to complete the repair work before the next monsoon.
Darjeeling MP Raju Bista announced a tender for an alternative bridge to Coronation Bridge by December.
The new bridge will connect Ellenbari to Sevoke and reduce the load on the existing Coronation Bridge.
The project is part of a larger plan including Siliguri Ring Road and Siliguri-Gorakhpur Expressway.
