Odisha Celebrates Organ Donors on World Organ Donation Day
On World Organ Donation Day, Odisha celebrated organ donors.
The Health Minister said donating organs is a very kind thing to do.
They gave awards called the Suraj Award to the families of people who donated their organs after they died.
These donations save other people's lives!
The secretary of Health also thanked the families of the donors.
The Suraj Award started after a man named Suraj donated his organs after a car accident.
This award honors donors and helps encourage more people to donate organs.
Odisha Health Minister highlighted organ donation as a noble act during World Organ Donation Day.
The Suraj Award, along with a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh, was presented posthumously to 24 organ donors' families.
The Health and Family Welfare Secretary praised the courage of organ donors and their families.
One organ donor can save up to eight lives and provide relief to around 50 through tissue donation.
The Suraj Award was established in 2020 to honor organ donors, inspired by Suraj Behera.
