Shiv Sena Challenges Pednekar's Nomination in HC

Shiv Sena Challenges Pednekar's Nomination in HC

A Shiv Sena spokesperson went to the Bombay High Court to challenge the nomination of Kishori Pednekar, who is running for a local election in Mumbai.

The spokesperson said Pednekar didn't mention important details about some legal cases against her in her nomination form.

The court decided to hear the case after the election, which is on January 15.

Pednekar is a former mayor of Mumbai and is running for a seat in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation from ward 199 in central Mumbai.

The Shiv Sena spokesperson asked the court to reject Pednekar's nomination form, saying it was false and misleading.

The case involves five FIRs filed against Pednekar during her time as mayor, including one for alleged fraud during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Supreme Court also extended the timeline for local body elections in Maharashtra to February 15, 2026, due to issues with reservations and EVM shortages.
