Congress Leads Ajmer Civic Polls as BJP Loses 36-Year Control

Congress Leads Ajmer Civic Polls as BJP Loses 36-Year Control

Congress won more seats than the BJP in Ajmer’s city election.

Congress won 37 wards, while the BJP won 32.

Independent candidates won 11 wards.

A party needs 41 seats to control the 80-member board.

Because neither major party reached that number, the Independents are very important.

The result ended the BJP’s 36-year run leading Ajmer’s municipal board.

About 65 percent of registered voters voted.

Congress and the BJP may now need to negotiate with the Independent councillors.
