Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project Faces 83% Cost Hike
India's first high-speed train project, the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train, is facing big problems.
It's going to cost a lot more money than first thought, about 83% more.
The train was supposed to be ready by 2025, but now it won't be done until 2029.
A small part of the train route, between Surat and Bilimora, might be ready by 2027.
This is a big deal because it's India's first bullet train, and people are excited about it.
But now it's taking longer and costing more, which is making some people worried.
India's first high-speed rail project, the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train, has faced a 4-year delay.
The revised project cost is Rs 1.98 lakh crore, an 83% increase from the initial estimate of Rs 1.1 lakh crore.
The overall project completion has been pushed to December 2029.
The first operational stretch between Surat and Bilimora is expected to be inaugurated in August 2027.
This delay and cost escalation have raised concerns about the project's management and future prospects.
