Equity MF Inflows Dip Amid Market Volatility
In December 2025, investors in India saw a decline in equity mutual fund inflows, which dropped by 6% to ₹28,054 crore.
This happened because many investors decided to take out their money, especially from debt funds, which saw large withdrawals.
Despite this, flexi-cap funds, which allow managers to invest in different types of companies, attracted a lot of interest with ₹10,019 crore in inflows.
Gold exchange-traded funds (ETFs) also saw a big increase in inflows, rising over 200% to ₹11,647 crore, as people looked for safer investments.
The total amount managed by mutual funds slightly decreased to ₹80.23 lakh crore.
Investors also continued to put money into systematic investment plans (SIPs), showing confidence in long-term investments.
Overall, the mutual fund industry grew by nearly 20% in 2025, reflecting increased participation and adoption of mutual funds across investor segments.
Equity mutual fund inflows declined by 6% to ₹28,054.06 crore in December 2025 due to profit booking and increased redemptions.
Flexi-cap funds attracted the highest inflows at ₹10,019 crore, driven by large-cap outperformance and investor preference for balanced options.
Debt-oriented schemes experienced net outflows of ₹1.32 lakh crore, primarily from liquid and money market funds.
Retail participation through SIPs reached an all-time high of ₹31,000 crore in December, indicating strong long-term investment confidence.
Gold ETF inflows surged 211% to ₹11,647 crore, driven by safe-haven demand and market uncertainty.
