Deep Partial Lunar Eclipse To Cover 96% Of Moon

Earth will move between the Sun and the Moon.

This will make Earth’s shadow fall across the Moon.

Almost all of the Moon, about 96 percent, will become dark.

It is called a partial eclipse because a small part of the Moon will remain outside the darkest shadow.

The Moon may look reddish-orange during the event.

The eclipse will last several hours and reach its peak shortly after midnight EDT.

People across much of the Americas and other regions can watch it if the sky is clear.

Astronauts in space may also get a special view.
