Terre des Hommes Celebrates 50 Years in India
Terre des Hommes (TDH) Germany is celebrating 50 years of working with groups in India to help children and poor communities.
They started in 1975 in Pune and have helped many children since then.
They work with other groups to stop bad things from happening to kids and to help them feel strong.
In 2026, they will have a big event with over 400 people to celebrate all the good work they have done together.
Terre des Hommes (TDH) Germany was founded in 1967 and began working in India in 1975.
Its first partnerships in India included the KEM Hospital childcare ward and organizations like Mobile Creches and Kagad Kach Patra Kashtakari Panchayat.
TDH Germany shifted its focus in the 1980s to addressing the root causes of child vulnerability by supporting marginalized communities and promoting children's empowerment.
The organization expanded its work to Nepal, addressing issues such as trafficking through rescue, rehabilitation, and prevention.
To celebrate 50 years of partnership with civil society organizations, TDH will hold a series of events on January 4, 2026, bringing together over 400 youth and partners from across India.
