Nifty 50 Unchanged but Broader Indices See Major Shifts
The Nifty 50, which is like a list of the top 50 companies in India, is not expected to change much in its next review in March 2026.
However, other lists of companies, like the Nifty Next 50 and Midcap 150, are going to see a lot of changes.
New companies like Tata Capital and ICICI Prudential AMC are expected to join these lists, while some older companies might leave.
This is happening because many new companies have recently started selling shares to the public, and these new companies are doing well.
On 19 January, the stock market had a bad day, with the main lists, Nifty 50 and Sensex, both going down.
Investors lost a lot of money that day.
The market is going through a big change, with new types of companies, like those that sell things online or help people manage money, becoming more important.
Nifty 50 expected to remain unchanged in March 2026 review due to stringent market-cap and liquidity thresholds.
Significant churn anticipated in broader indices like Nifty Next 50, Midcap 150, and Smallcap 250 driven by recent IPOs.
Tata Capital and ICICI Prudential AMC likely to enter Nifty Next 50, while Bajaj Housing Finance and Havells India face potential exclusion.
Midcap 150 to see entries like LG Electronics India, Groww, Meesho, and Lenskart, with established names like HDFC AMC and Muthoot Finance likely to exit.
Nifty Smallcap 250 to undergo deepest reshuffle with new entrants like PhysicsWallah and Piramal Finance replacing established names.
