HDFC merger delivering synergies as cross-selling gathers momentum: Chairman
The big leader of HDFC Bank talked to the people who own parts of the bank.
He said the bank is doing great after joining together with another company called HDFC Limited.
When two companies join, it is called a merger.
The merger is helping the bank share customers with its partner companies.
Almost all new home loan customers also open a savings account with the bank.
That means customers are keeping more of their money with HDFC Bank.
The bank made more profit this year than it did last year.
It also needed much less backup money for loans that might not be paid back.
A tiny number of loans are still not being repaid, but that number barely changed.
The leader said the bank is ready for a very exciting next chapter of growth.
HDFC Bank Chairman Rajiv Kumar said the merger with HDFC Limited has begun unlocking meaningful synergies.
Over 95% of new-to-bank home loan customers now open Savings Accounts with HDFC Bank, strengthening customer primacy.
HDFC Bank reported Q1 FY27 net profit of ₹19,059 crore, up 5% year-on-year, with net interest income up 6.7% to ₹33,534 crore.
Provisions declined sharply to ₹3,060 crore from ₹14,441 crore a year earlier, while gross NPA edged up to 1.17% from 1.15%.
Kumar said the bank stands at a pivotal moment with modernized technology platforms and deepened distribution, poised for stronger business outcomes.
