Goa Food Safety Drive Orders Three Government Canteens Closed

Food safety officials checked four places that serve food near offices in Porvorim, Goa.

Three of the places were government canteens, and one was a private restaurant.

Officials found serious problems with building conditions and kitchen cleanliness at three units.

Those three units were told to stop serving food.

They can reopen only after officials check that the problems have been fixed.

The inspection was announced by Goa minister Vishwajit Rane on August 27, 2026.

The government also plans to inspect more canteens across Goa.

Officials want canteen contractors to follow food-safety and hygiene rules.
