MHA Orders 50-Night Stays in Border Villages
The Ministry of Home Affairs has asked police officers from central and state forces to spend at least 50 nights each year in villages near the border.
This is to help them understand the local communities better and gather important information.
The idea came from a meeting of top police officials in Raipur last November.
The officers will now spend more time in these villages to build stronger connections and improve security.
MHA directs CAPF and state police officers to spend 50 nights annually in border villages.
Aim is to deepen engagement with frontier communities and strengthen intelligence gathering.
Instructions issued to BSF, ITBP, SSB, Assam Rifles, and police chiefs of border states.
Directive follows deliberations at the DG-IG Conference held in Raipur in November 2023.
