Surat’s Udhna station gets India’s first steel pedestrian underpass

Surat’s Udhna railway station has got India’s first steel pedestrian underpass.

This underpass is made of steel and was built quickly using a special method called 'track cut-and-cover'.

It helps passengers, especially migrant workers, move safely between platforms.

The station is very busy, with around 10,000 people using it every day.

During the Iran war, the number of people using the station increased a lot as migrants left Surat for their home states.

This underpass is part of a trial project by the Railways to improve safety and convenience for passengers.
