High Court Quashes NITHM Director Appointment
The Telangana High Court decided that the state government had made a mistake when it chose a new director for the National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management.
The court said the government should have let the institute’s own council pick the director, not the government itself.
The director the government chose was Prof. V. Venkata Ramana.
The court also said the person might not have the right background for the job.
Because of these problems, the court cancelled the appointment.
This means the institute will keep its own rules for choosing leaders.
The decision shows that even governments must follow the rules of the institutions they run.
It also shows that courts can check if a government acts properly.
The case was brought by a group called the Centre for Better Governance.
The court’s decision was made in Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana.
The ruling helps keep the institute independent and fair.
Telangana High Court set aside the appointment of NITHM director.
Court found the government violated NITHM’s governing council authority.
Appointment of Prof. V. Venkata Ramana was quashed by GO Rt. No. 206.
Petition by Centre for Better Governance challenged the appointment.
Court cited NITHM rules requiring council to appoint director and questioned appointee’s qualifications.
