Bombay High Court Presses BMC Over Mumbai Garbage Enforcement

Bombay High Court Presses BMC Over Mumbai Garbage Enforcement

The Bombay High Court said Mumbai’s streets still have too much uncollected garbage.

The judges questioned whether the city corporation’s promises were actually being carried out.

They warned officials that the court could take action if conditions do not improve.

The case also involves complaints from people living near the Kanjurmarg dumping ground.

Residents reported bad smells, pollution, toxic gases and possible health dangers.

The BMC said it is following new waste-management rules.

It also described measures such as misting, soil covering, deodorants and mobile tracking.

The court asked the BMC Commissioner to return with a detailed update on what has really been enforced.
