Haryana Panel Criticizes Police Probe in Sewer Deaths
Two workers died while cleaning a sewer in a hotel in Hansi.
The Haryana Human Rights Commission is upset with the police investigation.
They think the police might have tried to protect the hotel owner by blaming someone else.
The commission wants the police to investigate again and give a detailed report.
The families of the workers have already received compensation.
The next hearing is on February 18, 2026.
The Haryana Human Rights Commission (HHRC) criticized the police investigation into the deaths of two sanitation workers in Hansi.
The commission ordered a fresh examination of the case and directed the Superintendent of Police to submit a detailed report by February 18, 2026.
The workers, Virender and Sombir, died while cleaning a sewer line at a hotel in October 2025.
The HHRC questioned the credibility of the investigation, noting that the appointment letter of the assistant manager was undated and appeared to be issued after the incident.
Compensation of Rs 30 lakh each has been given to the families of the deceased workers under the Employees’ Compensation Act.
