Trump Orders 11 Icebreakers to Counter Russia
President Trump said the US has only one icebreaker while Russia has 48, which he called ridiculous.
To fix this, the US is buying 11 new icebreakers from Finland.
Four will be made in Finland and seven in the US.
This is a big deal because the Arctic is becoming more important, and the US needs more icebreakers to protect its interests there.
The Coast Guard says it needs at least nine icebreakers to do this job properly.
The deal is worth $6.1 billion and is meant to help the US catch up quickly, with most of the new ships eventually being built in the US.
US has only one functional icebreaker compared to Russia's 48.
