Hyundai, Kia Sales Surge in U.S. and Europe on Hybrid, EV Demand
Hyundai and Kia sold more cars in the United States in July 2026 than they did a year earlier.
The growth was mainly because people liked the hybrid and SUV models.
Together, the two companies sold almost 51,000 eco-friendly cars, which is about a third of all the cars they sold in the U.S. In Europe, they sold more than 131,000 electric cars in the first half of the year, a big jump from the previous half.
The best-selling electric cars were Kia’s EV3 and Hyundai’s Inster.
If the trend continues, the two companies expect to sell over 200,000 electric cars in Europe this year, a record for them.
Hyundai U.S. sales rose 5% in July 2026, driven by hybrids and SUVs.
Kia U.S. sales grew 6.7% in July 2026, with strong demand for its Sportage and K4 models.
Combined eco‑friendly vehicle sales jumped 24.7% to 50,937 units, 30.8% of total U.S. sales.
In Europe, Hyundai and Kia sold 131,032 electric vehicles in the first half of 2026, up 41.8% from the previous half.
Kia’s EV3 and Hyundai’s Inster were the top‑selling electric models in Europe.
