India Faces Persistent Malnutrition Despite Economic Growth
India is growing economically but many children and mothers are still not getting enough good food.
This is called malnutrition.
It makes kids shorter than they should be, underweight, and can make them sick more often.
The government has programs to help, like giving extra food to kids and mothers, but many people still need help.
Some states have worse problems than others.
It's important to fix this because healthy kids grow up to be strong workers and help the country grow even more.
India struggles with malnutrition despite being the fastest-growing major economy.
35.5% of children under 5 are stunted, 32.1% underweight, and 19.3% wasted (NFHS-5 2019-21).
Mission Poshan 2.0 provides supplementary nutrition to children, pregnant women, and adolescent girls.
Only 7.36 crore children up to 5 years old were enrolled in Anganwadis as of June 2025.
States like Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh have higher malnutrition rates despite being major food producers.
