Government Initiative Brings Big Bash League Opener to Chennai
The Big Bash League is a major cricket tournament played in Australia.
Its next season will begin with a game in Chennai, India.
Perth Scorchers will play Melbourne Renegades on December 12.
Cricket Australia said the match was made possible through a broader cooperation effort between the Indian and Australian governments.
The effort aims to strengthen relations between the two countries through cricket.
Chennai was chosen because its fans are passionate and the stadium has a special history with Australian cricket.
The game will use BBL rules and entertainment, which may be new for Indian fans.
Tickets are expected to go on sale in the first week of October.
Organizers also want to include local Chennai touches in the match-day experience.
