Iceland Tops 2025 Global Peace Index
The Global Peace Index for 2025 is out, and Iceland is once again the most peaceful country in the world.
It has held the top spot since 2008.
Ireland and New Zealand are next, followed by Austria and Switzerland.
Singapore is the highest-ranked country in Asia-Pacific, and Portugal rounds out the top seven.
The report shows that while these countries are very peaceful, the world as a whole is becoming less peaceful.
The index looks at things like safety, conflict, and how much countries spend on military.
Even though some regions, like Western and Central Europe, are still the most peaceful, they have seen a decline in peacefulness over the past few years.
Iceland tops the Global Peace Index 2025 for the 18th consecutive year.
Ireland and New Zealand rank second and third, respectively.
Austria and Switzerland maintain their positions in the top five.
Singapore is the highest-ranked country in the Asia-Pacific region.
Portugal secures the seventh position in the global rankings.
