OpenAI Denies ChatGPT Ads Amid User Confusion
OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, has been talking about adding ads to their AI chatbot for a while.
Recently, some users shared pictures showing ads on ChatGPT, which caused a lot of confusion.
However, OpenAI's Vice President, Nick Turley, said that these pictures are not real or are not actually ads.
He explained that OpenAI is not currently testing ads on ChatGPT.
If they do decide to add ads in the future, they will be careful and thoughtful about it.
Meanwhile, OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman, has said that they are focusing on improving ChatGPT and have postponed plans for ads and other new features.
They have also turned off a feature that was suggesting apps, which some users thought were ads.
OpenAI initially denied showing ads on ChatGPT but later admitted to inadvertent app suggestions.
Users complained about seeing app suggestions, which felt like ads, leading to confusion.
OpenAI Chief Research Officer Mark Chen acknowledged the issue and turned off the feature.
Nick Turley, VP at OpenAI, clarified that there were no live ad tests and any screenshots were fake or misrepresented.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman declared a 'Code Red' to improve ChatGPT and postponed plans for ads and other features.
