Fatehgarh Transmission Line to Reduce Renewable Energy Curtailment in Rajasthan
There's a problem in Rajasthan where some renewable energy, like solar and wind power, isn't being used because there aren't enough power lines to carry it.
The government is building new power lines to fix this.
One of these new lines, called the Fatehgarh transmission line, will be ready soon.
Once it's ready, most of the unused renewable energy will be able to flow through the power lines, and the problem should be solved.
This is good news because it means more clean energy can be used.
Renewable energy curtailment in Rajasthan is caused by a mismatch between project commissioning and transmission infrastructure development.
Around 4 GW of renewable energy capacity was previously without connectivity.
The Khetri-Narela transmission line, commissioned in December, has evacuated part of the affected capacity.
The remaining 2 GW will be evacuated once the Fatehgarh transmission line is commissioned, expected within a month.
After the Fatehgarh line is ready, no further curtailment is expected in Rajasthan.
