US Cities Lead Global GDP Per Person Ranking

US Cities Lead Global GDP Per Person Ranking

GDP per person compares a city’s economic output with its population.

It is different from measuring the total size of a city’s economy.

San Jose ranks first, with $238,700 in output per person.

San Francisco is second, while Dublin and Basel also rank near the top.

US cities make up 27 of the 40 places.

Some smaller metro areas are included too.

The article says cities with productive industries can rank highly even if they are not very large.

Singapore, Dammam, and Perth are among the few cities listed from outside North America and Europe.
