Sing Geetham Turns Music, Greed and Conservation Into Fantasy
Sing Geetham is a funny fantasy movie about a village and a gold mine.
Pratap and Renu both own part of the mine.
Renu has the village’s last tree pulled down.
After that, a curse makes everyone sing instead of talking.
The villagers must work out how to stop the curse.
Their problem makes them reveal what they really think.
The movie also asks people to protect nature and their community instead of chasing only money.
The reviewer liked its humor and message but thought the movie was longer than it needed to be.
Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, 94, wrote and directed the Telugu fantasy film Sing Geetham.
The story follows Pratap and Renu, joint owners of a gold mine in the village of Kuberapuram.
After Renu uproots the village’s last surviving tree, a curse makes the villagers sing instead of speak.
The villagers seek a way to lift the curse, with the solution tied to a cave and their own choices.
The review praises the film’s humor, music and environmental themes, while saying its 137-minute runtime is too long.
